Mickey, I don't think Remington's lawyers would allow the company to expose itself to the liability risks and sell the stock if it had a propensity to break. It is not likely to snap and cut you.

The stock does have design problems, though. The center line of the stock is offset to the left of the barrel (called cast - on) which prevents easy alignment of the eye over the barrel. Cast - on would be a good thing for a left handed shooter, but the design of this stock is such that a leftie would probably break his nose on the "knuckle" of the pivot point. The stock is far from rigid, you can flex it just by shouldering the gun and pulling it in tight. At the pivot point, the forces generated by recoil have to make two 90 degree turns, which is not a very good engineering solution. I think this point is where people believe the stock will break. I don't think it will, but the design will certainly not optimize recovery times for a second shot.

Two other side folding stocks (maybe more?) are available for the 870, one from Advanced Technology, Inc. (Marstar) and one from Choate (where in Canada?). I would like to see them in person and see if they are any better.

I thought it looked appealing until I shouldered it. That "cast-on" is pretty obvious with this gun.

When I am able to get my 870 (Same as pictured) I plan on putting anything on it other than a BC folder.

I have never been a fan of thier stuff...just built cheaply.....

I really like the Knoxx COPStock, buuuuuuuut I dont think it will work with an EOTech Holosight on the top.......well it will work normally, but you won't be able to fold it.....dissapointing to say the least!!

Of course...maybe, just maybe I can modify the stock and make it work :D:D

sharptail : thank you so much to help me clearfy this....then i think i may return this and buy a Mossy 590 with ghost sight on it, 30 dollars more, but it has a full set of ghost sight...i only need to buy a folding stock for it and its all done...this Reminton, at this point , i need buy another folding stock and ghost sights.....way too much money to go.....
