I have a Ruger GS Scout in .308 which I use for deer. Love the rifle, (have it mounted with a full XS rail so I can use larger scopes/ but with flexibility for irons). I do find that the short 16" barrel affects the ballistics/ trajectory a bit past 250 yards though. I am going for pronghorn this year and looking for a rifle that might shoot a bit flatter but have the same handiness as my Ruger (detach mags etc.).
Today I noticed that Ruger has a 6.5 CM now, model 6836. Has anyone tried it? It has an 18.7" barrel - does that still allow for reasonably trajectory out to around 400 yrds or so? Also wondering the best place to pick one up if someone already knows. Thanks!
