Depends what you mean for target work. I find the BDC heavy-it's a hunting reticle IMHO. It gets the job done, but when you're out to 300 yds there is enough target coverage to obscure the target-you end up covering about 1.5" at 300 yds-so about 1/2MOA (rough estimate only). This becomes more pronounced using the mill-dots.
The MOA Reticle on the Viper FFP has a .18 MOA reticle laser etching vs. the wire reticle on the Viper BDC. I find I like the reticle on a Boone and Crockett Leupold and a Burris Fullfield II finer-but these are hunting scopes as well.
I don't see why you wouldn't like the BDC, but it is a wire reticle and not as fine as others.
