Anyone have any dealings with...

in person a bit, bill is a solid guy, but his prices are really up there, he does get stuff you cant often find anywhere else though, and its in good shape usually

They usually have decent stuff in great condition.

Bought a few things from them in the past but only face to face. Seems like a nice fellow.

His prices reflect the quality of what he is offering.

he had a big business going back in the 90s.mostly WWII German . then the firearms registration started and he shut it down , to ammo and surplus only.
his nick name was nazi Bill .then Bill the Red when all he had was Russian ammo. interesting that he is still around.

He's been in business a long time, which surprises me. I stopped any dealings with him in the early90s.
I would not recommend him in any regard. Please proceed with caution.

I never had any problems buying from these stores in Calgary in person - Things Military or The Soldier Shop (When it was there in the 90's on 17 Ave SW).
But I guess everyone's mileage can vary.

I've always been there in person.
I bought a crate of ammo for the tokarev recently. Price vs. Product, I'm sure hunting around would have made it come cheaper. His prices are a tad above average but not usually ridiculous. I have come across the odd better deal here and there, but unless I'm buying 5+ crates, it's not usually a factor. Bill seems to be a very to-the-point guy and that terseness may be a put-off to some. Never had a feeling that there is anything subversive or shady going on.

things military ,and the soldiers shop ,should not be named in the same sentence. As the owners detest each other.

I think at one time, Jim did work for Bill when the Soldier Shop was near the Marlborough Inn.

I've always bought from him in person. His stuff is legit, perhaps a bit over priced. His constant, "I can sell this online for more" schtick gets old, but he seems like an ok guy.

He does have that arrogant, abrupt, expert collector attitude, so I imagine when he meets another opinionated, arrogant, expert collector the sparks must fly.

I always wind up chatting and enjoy it. I think it helps to know your stuff before you buy vis a vis price, but what things are, is accurately represented in my experience.
