Anyone have any experience with Independence .223/5.56?

I've been cheap on my ammo lately. Mostly Barnaul ammo. The local gun shop introduced me to some even cheaper ammo last week. Independence. It's made in Israel by IMI, for what looks like Federal.

It was about 2$ cheaper a box compared to Barnaul, and brass instead of steal casing.

I shot about 200 rounds of the stuff, and it had a louder "bang" than the Barnaul (and other ammo), and the brass looked to get tossed more violently (out of a Tavor).

I did some reading on it when I got home, and saw some people had issues with some of it (popped primers, etc). So far it's been fine, but I've read about some people needing gunsmith level repairs to fix some malfunctions caused by this ammo, but those were from 2015/2016. Not sure if those issues were addressed. I'm kind of hoping they were, as I am sitting on about 1200 rounds of the stuff right now.

I've shot 300-400 rounds of it in the last 4 months or so without any problems at all. We sell it at the shop and have had no complaints.

I went through 5000 rounds of it in August and don't recall any issues although it is 5.56 so maybe higher pressure than most .223. I generally prefer .223 ammo to 5.56 so it's not my first choice, however I don't think there is anything wrong with the ammo but I hate the packaging.

yes, reloadable brass.

My gripe with the packaging is somewhat silly- the 20 round boxes don't open easily, they seem to be glued shut or something so they need to be ripped open. It's really nothing to worry about.

Shot about 300 rounds now through my T97 Gen 2 with no problems. I ended up buying 2k from Tenda when they had that smoking deal + rebate from federal.

Seems like good blasting ammo to me. 3 MOAish performance from a chrome barreled Colt, but that seems to be USGI type ball ammo anyway!

I would not let it near tight chambered 223 guns. It is HOT. Chronos hot and there are many reviews/videos showing that.

I'm running it through a Tavor, so I'm good to go. I've been getting similar accuracy with it too. Certainly not "accurate" ammo, but it goes bang and puts holes in the general vicinity of where I'm pointing.
