Midway has a very good selection so i may be getting some stuff for Xmas but the wife is leary about them for some reason. Anyone have dealings with them? On their website i see no mention of shipping to Canada but that doesnt bother me as i have a friend in the States who brings me stuff.
Thanks

I used to live in the U.S. and bought routinely from Midway. They're good to deal with, but they're very large and sometimes complications arise from their left hand not knowing what the right hand's doing. I've never bought from them in Canada, but my experience with U.S. vendors is that there's a real reluctance to send things north. If you have a friend in the U.S. who can manage that, it's probably the best way.

Yes - when Midway use to ship here I had ordered their pre-chambered Adams & Bennet Mauser barrel & Stock. It was inexpensive and surpisingly well made. I wish that I could get more and today's exchange. Had other dealings equally good. Too bad they won't ship north any more - Can't blame them because they got fined big bucks for doing so in the past.

"...friend in the States who brings me stuff..." Illegally exporting is he? Reloading equipment is ok, but components are not.
Like OneBarfly says, Midway doesn't ship to Canada.

Actually its all reloading supplies and my "special friend" is a dual citizen so he can pretty much do whatever.:)
I love my "special friend" but not in that way.;)

Midway used to ship to Canada and probably will again some day. They are the largest mail order reloading supplier on earth and they are setting up international distributors to get around US export laws.

We currently have MidwayUSA international dealers located in:

I only had positive experiences with them back in the day, but I only ordered from them maybe twice.

I don't know if it was mentioned here before but, they used to ship to Canada, had great prices, and good service, but they got caught when the US changed EXPORT rules. They were caught shipping scopes to Canada and fined 250K, and immediately stopped shipping anything to Canada.

I deal with them on a regular basis. They usually ship here in the states on the same day. Larry Potterfield is a very nice gentleman and I have met him in person. The only thing I don't like about them is that their shipping charges are ridiculous. Thanks...Bill.

That is correct, the notice and details of their fine was published. They were shipping scopes not only to Canada but to a lot other countries as well. After agreeing to a "settlement" it cost them about $1,000 per scope in fines, not including their legal fees. They made a corporate decision to stop ALL exports.

"...shipping charges are ridiculous..." Shipping charges are set by the carrier, not the retailer. U.S. Hazardous Materials(Hazmat) shipping charges are high. At one time, primers and powder could not be carried in a truck across a bridge into Canada. Don't know if it still applies
"...Does a tumbler and dies constitute reloading supplies?...a powder measure..." That'd be equipment. Bullets, primers and powder are supplies. Equipment can be shipped, supplies cannot. That's what Dillon said when I asked them.

Does a tumbler and dies constitute reloading supplies? What about a powder measure?

"Supplies" is a confusing word. Forget it was ever used.

There are no restrictions on reloading equipment. Presses, dies, tools, whatever are okay, and almost everyone except Midway will happily ship these to Canada.

Ammunition components (brass, bullets, primers) are considered "significant military equipment" under the rules of ITAR, and cannot be exported from the U.S. without a permit. No company should ship these to you without a significant amount of paperwork.
