If anyone owns or has shot one i'd like to hear your overall impression of the rifle. it's capabilities and overall fit, finish, and function... besides than the plastic parts.
Thanks :)

I have an H001.

It is a nice lever gun, shoots ok with the iron sights but I mounted a scope on mine just because....

It loads easily, the action is smooth, is a straight shooter, etc.
It feels much better in the hands compared to a synthetic stock or wood 10/22.

The fit and finish are great, much like an old winchester or marlin 30/30.
A really nice gun and I will be keeping mine.

But saying all that, I still much prefer the Browning BL22 over the Henry H001.
The BL22 has a MUCH nicer smooth action and the short stroke lever is way easier to operate. I have a few BL22s and in my opinion they are nicer lever .22s.

The BL22 costs more but it is worth it, IMO, but still you cant go wrong for < $350 for a new H001.

The BL22 does not have a smoother action, it is stiff as hell.

If you like leverguns, then I think you're really going to enjoy your Henry.

I bought the Lever Carbine with the large loop and 16" barrel when they first came out. It was fantastic from the first day I got it. Shot it lots, and liked the Henry guns so much that I now own 5 of them!

But, my little carbine is still my "go to" gun. I have installed a better set of sights (milled the base and installed a good set of Williams sights on it) and it works like a dream. I can chase a bottle cap with the little guy out to about 40 yards...

On the other hand, the guns are pretty simple to work on. I picked up a real beat up first generation, round barreled Henry pump, for a song. What parts I could not find for it, I was able to make in my shop. I fitted it with a rear peep and a front fire sight, and it works unbelievably well. This will be my squirreling rifle this year. (Not bad for $150...)

My 2 Golden Boys are great! They can do a dime sized group at 50 yards with their iron sights. I'll be saving the pair of them for the kids...

Hope that helps...

It does help thanks. im a lever nut, infact all but one of my guns are marlin lever actions and i want a 39 someday when i find the right used one, but im tired of waiting for a lever plinker. thanks guys.

I have lever actions from Marlin, Puma, Savage and Henry.
Have the Henry in 22, 22 WMR and 17 HMR, love them all.
The Henry 22 is the smoothest, slickest of them all and is a favourite when I feel like heading out back and having fun.
Buy one. Then anoter. :D

I bought an H001 a few weeks ago. Pretty happy with it. Action is nice, groups better than I can shoot. Shoots to the left right now but that's easy enough to fix when I find the time.
I've heard great things about the Browning, but I passed on that for the same reason I passed on the Goldenboy with octagonal barrel, I didn't want to spend a lot for a recreational shooter.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with mine.

One reminder, if you don't gave a gun cabinet or gun room, remember to get a cable lock for it.

One reminder said:
I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to build my own house with the help of a couple friends, and i incorporated a built in gun locker behind the wall of my bedroom closet. it's very cool and totally undetectable to anyone who dosent know it's there.
thanks for the good review of the henry. i was a little hesitant to make this trade because i liked my marlin 925, i just didn't use it nearly as much as my leverguns.
