Anyone have experience with the Williams Firesight rear iron sight on Russian sks?

I have bought a rear iron sight made by Williams firesights and I haven't tested it yet. I could only find one review on youtube and the guy said he had to file the bottom of it down so that it could be lowered more. But he had a Chinese sks. So I'm hoping it's lining up on my Russian good enough. It's installed and looks good looking through it. But If I needed to lower it I would need to file. I don't want to file. Am I gonna have to?

I have used the Williams rear peep sight for the SKS. Greatly improved my accuracy and had no issues with zero. Only caveat was that I had to locktite the adjustment screws to keep it in place.

I have mine as low as it will go, Russian SKS, and it is 2" high at 150 Metres. I just comp for it. Great sight with exceptional sight picture. Also have Firesight on front, non adjustable.

Nice sight overall.
Put it on my two chinese sks's.
Hardest part for me was one front sight goes in no problem and the second front sight I had to fight into place.
No explaining the difference in difficulty levels???

Screwing the front sight should change the height. Don't file anything.
If you like the fine rear sight and they are close, a drop of thread lock would be nice to keep those fine adjustment screws in place.
That small aperture is nice for focussing.
Have you taken the rear sight off and taken a look through the large ring. It mimics a large ring battle sight pretty well.

Thank you all. Especially highcal since I bought it from them. Yeah it sits pretty flush with the front as low as it goes. I couldn't imagine needing to raise it but I tend to be a little dyslexic at times so we'll see. I'm sure I can adjust the front to compensate, I had thought about that and it looks promising. I thought I'd fish for some reassurance. It looks much better than the old leaf sight. Can't wait to get out there and try it. Just waiting for the rain to stop. Gotta love the west coast...

Yes actually I like that. I'm sure the small aperture is good for the accuracy but I prefer the "ghost ring" sight picture. Only one adjustment screw and if I don't need to raise the sight then I guess I won't even need it period. I haven't touched my front sight post at all yet. It was adjust to the old leaf in the "U" position. So theoretically I should be able to just adjust the new rear sight so that the top of the front sight post is directly in the middle of the circle right?

Usually Williams pairs this up to a front fibre sight (red or green) that really stands out something beautifully.
Paired with the small aperture rear sight it helps to tighten up grouping nicely when you take your time and do your part.

If you are using it more for reaction or snap type shooting then just unscrew the rear sight barrel and the thread it screed into is now a larger peep ring.
(You just have to remember where you left that tiny sight in case you want it again.)

Yes, that is the theory, and mine is about that way. However, you don't want the rear sight to be too low, because when it tips down the peep looks oval. You might have to adjust the front sight a turn or two up, so the rear is not too low.
