Picked up a nice little Beretta o/u yesterday. Model is S685 - for all intents and purposes, it appears identical to a 686, with some compromises to keep it to a price point. Has 26" barrels with M/IC. Single selective trigger. Extractors instead of ejectors (actually, I'm happy about that). Nice english stock with good grain, fit, finish and checkering. Rolled scrollwork is modest but nice.

Haven't been able to find much information regarding these. It appears that it was discontinued in 1986.

Does anyone know anything about this particular model. Any ideas where I might find a manual for it? Beretta websited doesn't seem to have it.

Their FAQ section (Int'l site) mentions that Beretta Services has both current and discontinued manuals that could be made available upon request.

Nice looking firearm (12 or 20?).....I've a feeling the internals won't differ much compared to a 686.

Thanks for the tip. I'll drop them a line.

Its a 12, but I understand they made a 20 from the bit of information that I have found. That would be a sweet little gun with an english stock!

Yeah! I'm basically a sxs user, however, I've a 20ga Citori Upland Special (24inch bbls/straight grip)....great balance, handles very well in the grouse bush.

I thought I had the only 685 in canada!!!! I sold mine to a young guy in saskatchewan last year... was a great shotgun, I was told mine had extractors too, until it shot the empties about 3 feet away. Good shotguns, never had an issue with mine.

I just picked up a s685e. Very nice gun. I have bottom barrel with a fixed choke, top barrel can be changed. 29.5" barrel. Not sure if I have extractors or ejectors yet. Barrel says excelsior high strength steel.
