I have been building up a nice revolver collection and ran into one of these.

Any of you collectors (or shooters) have one? Seems like there’s not many available anywhere let alone in Canada.

There res doesn’t seem to be much info on them on the net.

Yes. Essentially it's an M1917 with updated sights made after 1957. They usually came with four inch barrels, which became prohibited years later.

4" barrel model 22's are rather rare and command a premium in the US. Most of them were 5½" and made from 1950 as a commercial re-introduction of the model 1917. It's basicly a M25/26 with fixed sight. it was discontinued and then re-introduce in 2007 as a "Thunder Ranch" edition.

I have been looking a lot for those 45 ACP S&W revolver new production.

S&W only for now produce the 625 either in JM package or Performance center since it is prohibited up here, I have called my LGS in NH and have order a S&W 625 JM for my use on the american side.

Would they produce some JM 4.2 inch 45 ACP 625, they would sell a truck load of them in Kanadea.

No I don't think so.
S&W would have to stop or interrupt one production line to make new 625's. Additionally, they would have to make enough guns to justify sales. My guess is at least 3000-5000 units must be made to break even.

The demand for 625's in 45acp with the "specialty" 4.25" barrel is just not there. Why?

The auto crowd has taken over. Autos dominate every discipline & competition. The auto crowd want 2.5 pound SA triggers & minimum 10 round capacity. The 625 & 629 offer neither. There is just not enough or market interest here for them unfortunately.

I think your best chance is to order exactly what you want at the S&W Perfrmance Center.

I was very lucky to pick up a 5" 625-8 off the EE about 10 years ago. Think I paid $800 at that time. Fellow had bought it, then decided he really wanted a Performance Center model. I think there is a 625-6 on the EE now but it's about $1250.

I was offer a couple by members on CGN but since those all ready belong in the pool of restricteds in Canada. I want to buy a new restricted to add to the existing pool. I did not know from the start that no more of the restricted class were in production anymore. I did find an alternative at Irunguns.
