If you are talking about the Winchester 9422 then I have to say I have tried a few at the range over the years, and I would love one. :D

And don't ever sell it.

I learned to shoot with a 9422....a true classic. My father bought me a new 9422 XTR over 20 years ago and it was my first repeating rifle and will go to my grave with me.

We must have got our 9422 at about the same time... In the early 80's I had just gotten my FAC and I had saved up enough $ to buy my first rifle (Most likely a cheap bolt action...) but my dad kept on telling me that it's better to buy quality firearm... so after countless ours looking at the gun magazine at the dinner table and multiple visit to the gun shops... he contributed the other half for me to move up to a brand new Winchester! Over the years this rifle took down many hares... and I owe it to him to have taken a liking to nice rimfire rifle!

Every years my father and I get still our lever guns out and have a serious plinking sessions, we don't hunt much anymore, but empty shotgun shell don't stand a chance :) One things still bugs me after all this time, why does his 39 bounces shells further then my 9422?

Y2K, shoot it often, it only gets better with time...

He is prob' aiming for the metal bases, which in my experience will impart more energy from the bullet, and sent the empty shotgun shell further then the flimsy plastic of the casing...so you are right, it only gets better with time. :D

Don't own one but had the chance to shoot one. Loved it. Real nice. I just not keen on the tube magazine. Perfect for hunting. Have fun with it.

Yes, I agree it is an awesome gun. Just tried mine out for the first time the other day. I have only owned it for about 12 years. My Dad picked it up from a friends son who needed some cash. Many times I have held it and wondered if it shot as good as it felt. Now I know it does.)

cteford,

First, welcome to GunNutz!
Second: You had that rifle for 12 years before shooting it? I am confused  ... You must either be 13 years old and got as your first birthday gift, or you are 80 something and forgot you had bought that rifle...

Anyway, I hope you won't wait another 12 years before taking it to the range again :)
