Anyone hunt goose with an O/U?

I normally hunt with my SX3 but I figured I would try my O/U at goose this evening.

Going to try Imp/Mod combination.

Does anyone else hunt goose with an O/U? I'm not really worried about thr 3rd shot much as I know I can hit stuff well with it.
 
I like my O/U for both ducks and geese, I agree that if you shoot the gun well having only 2 shots doesn't really matter. Over decoys I like Imp/Mod too.

I have, but far prefer a SxS or pump.

The O/Us are a little unwieldy in a blind or pit when reloading.

Other than long pass shooting, Improved Cylinder & Modified is as
good a choke combination as any, and truth be known, most score
better with something less than "Full".

To each there own. I usually use a full when geese are the main target. Lead them and aim for the head. I find this kills geese well and makes it less likely to get the breast all bloodshot. It has its downfalls though. I canonballed a duck last time I was out because I was leading it like a goose so the shot pattern was centered on the breast instead of the head and with a full it left nothing edible.
 
I always put Mod-Full bottom-top in my Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon when I still had it; worked like a charm on anything within 50 yards I could point it at.

I have used SXS and O/U gunsfor many years with no problems, be it in a blind, canoe, or jump shooting.
My son's O/U has 34" barrels plus 1" extended chokes and he has no problems in a layout either.
I use open chokes for both my 20 and 12 gauge guns with steel, my vintage guns are mostly cylinder/full and i use BP and Nice Shot in them.
Any bird at 40 yards is dead with any of the guns I use when I put the pellets where they should be - in the head/neck area.
In my 28 Ii use Nice Shot as well, it's chokes are IMP/MOD.
The only time I would consider using a choke designated "full" with steel is if it were stamped "steel" on it.

I shot my 101 lots for ducks and geese both. The O/U is great for coming up out of a layout blind quickly with. The shorter overall length makes for quicker handling and faster target acquisition than a conventional pump or auto with barrels of the same length. I havent used mine now for a couple seasons as it was taking too much abuse in the confines of a layout blind situation. I do miss using it though! 3rd shot is always a waste anyways...at least that's the excuse I used to use!!:D
 
I shoot my Skeet gun for geese, it's choked Skeet 1 and Skeet 2, killed three geese with one shell in the air, called the shot in front of witnesses last Saturday.

I shoot the gun really well, It likes Fasteel 2 3/4 inch 2's at 1550 fps.

Shooting over decoys in corn field. 20-30 yards.

I actually spoke too soon, we were 2 short of limiting out, 18 geese and 2 woodys to 5 guys.

Can steel be used in a fixed choke IC/M SxS?

I've only used an 870 with steel, but would like to switch to a SxS with double triggers and fixed chokes.
