Has anyone here went over the border to shoot prarie dogs? It looks like fun even if they are just big gophers. I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle to take a rifle down there for a day or two, maybe through an outfitter(there are guys advertising p dog hunts in Montana)

There's probably a guy on some south of the border forum asking about shooting gophers in your neck of the woods, and would pay handsomely to do so. No need to travel my friend - enjoy what you got.

I am negotiating rifle stock for my "crittr splittr" being made by guy out of Florida. He makes regular pilgrimages to Montana for just such an event. I explained to him what I can do in a 15 min drive. Sent pic's, etc. My stock went from and asking price, to a "how about I come for a visit...."

I shoot prairie dogs in South Dakota each September. Lot's of fun as they are much bigger than our gophers...about the size of a muskrat when full grown. Three of us usually shoot upwards of a thousand in two days. All centre fire stuff and I actually get tired of shooting...if ya can believe that.
