Anyone Hunt Using Iron Sights?

Almost always, December 08 was the first year I shot a deer with optics, for the most part I like iron sights better and the scope I used for that deer was at 1.75x

Always use iron sites. Turkey and Deer.
Due to the bush hunting scopes just not fast enough most of the times. 100yd max.
Scope to easy to knock when you are dogging, Buuuw Buuuoow LOL

This year, hunted rabbits with open iron sights on my Savage 24 combo. I did surprisingly well with the .22mag and reinstated my confidence when not using a scope. I still use a scope on the deer rifle and groundhog rifles, but it was a lot of fun with the open sights this winter.

Never used glass always open ( pre 64 .3030 ) or peeps . Can not use open now that my eyes are failing . Went to my old .303 Longbranch with the peeps and now I am starting to notice the same with the peeps . Looks like I will be getting glass some time soon .

I was taught with iron sights, and that's what I use the most. Majority of deer hunting I do is 150 yds. or less anyways. Most of the scope hunting I use is for small game like squirrel and rabbit, simply because most of my rimfires have scopes.

To be honest, I prefer iron sights now. I started shooting a BB pistol with open sights, then a pellet rifle again with open sights. I started reading books and magazines then all of a sudden iron sights didn't work anymore and I needed a scope. So naturally, my faithful pellet rifle got a scope. It was accurate and I really enjoyed it. When I got my first .30-30 rifle, I was going to scope it but ended up leaving it scope free most of the time. And when I got my first .22, it didn't have a scope either for a very long time. Then one day, yet again I started reading and discovered I needed a scope. So after that point most of my rifles wore a scope of some flavour. It was only a few years ago I started shooting open sighted rifles more often and realized I can hunt with them that way. Now I trust iron sights more than I'll trust even my Leupold. It really doesn't take much to knock the point of impact out just a bit. Even a half inch is enough to drive most rifle guys crazy and they must adjust it to be perfect. With iron sights, I'm not nearly as fussy with half inch groups. If it's in a group the size of a baseball I'm as happy as a pig in s**t. If anything it's made me a better, more confident shooter, without being a perfectionist.

Besides, everyone appreciates the clean lines of a rifle without a scope. :D

I use scopes on all my rifles used for accuracy testing, most are benchrest scopes of 36-40X, with the exception of a .222 for varmints, when i go seriously big game hunting it will be with iron sights. It will be .45/70 or bigger if using smokeless powder, .50/90 Sharps when using black powder(my favourite). Leverguns will have peep sights and firesight front sights, and all the Sharps will have traditional sights.
