Anyone hunt with a Sako75?

are you expecting to get two different answers by asking the same question in two different forums? already posted in Sporting arms.

no one answered this one so I posted it in the hunting sporting arms.

or we could go with your hypothesis! :)

I often hunt with Sako 75 rifles. Lovely guns, a bit heavy, but accurate, smooth feeding, and reliable. The stainless/synthetic ones are ideal for nasty wet rainy conditions, particularly when Moose hunting and leveraging the crude living conditions of leaky tents.

Just one thing I found I need to watch out for:

The tang safety is a ##### when walking with a sling carry on the left shoulder. I found on several occasions while moose hunting, the safety had gone from "safe" to "fire" all by itself. I discovered that the safety was riding against my clothing, and/or fanny pack and would inevitably get pushed to the "fire" position. Thankfully, muzzle control is my middle name!!! I did NOT encounter an AD situation and I was not walking with others at the times the saftey went into the "fire" position, but it sure left me with a horrible feeling all the same !!!!

The second time it happened, I decided that if I'm going to carry the damn thing on my left shoulder, the magazine would be full, but the chamber would be empty and I'd just have to work the bolt if I needed the chamber to be full, ie, if bullwinkle happened to appear as I come round a corner on the trail.

Have two Sakos currently. IMHO they are very hard to beat for quality. Great rifles:)

x2 Elk Man !!!!!

I currently have a Finnlight in .308, a Sako 75 Synthetic in .375H&H, and a 75 Hunter in .300WSM. All are easily sub-MOA and all crowd .5MOA if I pay attention and do my part. The build quality is excellent, barrels free floated, triggers are readily adjustable for pull weight, and in the samples I have break cleanly, and the stock dimensions are of ergonomic appeal to me.

I have a few of them. My SS 300WM I have had for almost 10 years custom fluted and tefloned the flutes by Corlanes in Dawson Creek,BC. This is still my main rifle - never any problems.

Hey Elk man- sweet looking rifle. I want to do up a Tikka T3 Varmint SS in 22-250 in a winter camo pattern - dipped- rifle/scope/rings and bases.

If not a Sako rifle, then a Tikka T3 in the LS models are my next suggestions.

I love Sako's! I have 75's in 22-250, 25-06, 270, 7mm Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag. I also have the Finnlight in 280. Well built, accurate and dependable rifles and I regularly use them all. I'm really impressed with the Finnlight, it has a great feel and the 280 Rem chambering is close to perfect for a "light" rifle.
