Anyone hunt with old guns (the real old timers)?

Remington Ryder #9 in 28 guage, single shot 34 inch barrel.

You can shoot a single pecan out of a sixty foot tree!

It's a side cocker but not hard to get used to. 1904

Man that is a peach. Over the years my interests have drifted away from shotgun and more to rifle, but having said that. Can you ever tell you've suprised the cwap out of a partridge thats landed in your back yard, you walk out with the parker with 32" extra full chokes, and a magnum home rolled ounce and 3/8 of number six. He comfortably lets you get to within what he considers the safe fly zone, but 10-15 yds before that you haul up and fill the skyline with feathers...I wonder what goes through that small brain as he topples

old poles

I use a gem of a martini for coyotes old greener take down action that was in 310 cadet, put a 30 inch shilen barrell in .357 mag, turned the handgun cartridge into a true 200 yard rifle

I have an old bubba'd .303 that I have been told dates to circa 1902. I had it out deer hunting this year but no luck. The guy I bought it from had used for moose hunting for years.

That seems quite the thing to do over there but here we try and keep them in original and shoot them in classic comps. The old .300 martini rounds, sherwood etc were acceptable as deer rounds prior to the Deer Act. They still make good fox cartridges. I must get of my bum and buy one. They are classed as off licence collectables here so are reasonably pricey. I may get one, buy dies and brass etc then when my FAC comes up for renewal inabout 4 years put it on my license.

I use many of my military rifles for hunting.

1896 Swede mauser, 1938 Swede Mauser, 1948 Yugo mauser, K98k mauser, K31 Scmidt Rubin, Mosin Nagant 1891, 91/30 and M44 and of course various Lee Enfields. I love hunting with these old war horses.
