Anyone hunting with a Ruger 77/44 Magnum?

My brother has been pestering me to find him a Ruger 77/44 magnum, but I haven't been able to talk him out of it as I think he should get a Deerfield semiauto instead. We grew up shooting the then-new 77/22 and really liked it as far as fit and finish were concerned. Has the 77/44 been discontinued by Ruger? Does anyone hunt with one in either blue or stainless? Any reports on them would be appreciated like accuracy, handling, etc. Thanks Peter H.

I just had a look on Ruger's website and it looks like the 77/44 is not in their current line up. Just the Deerfield Carbine and the 96/44 lever.

I bought one recently, have not fired it yet, waiting on the scope. The scope should arrive tues or wed,then I'll try it out.I intend to hunt with it this year if it works for me.
