Anyone I can talk to who owns or owned a stock duplicator?

I don't understand the fasination with duplicators for a one off stock. Makes sense if you want to do ten but for one rough it with handsaw and drill press then break out the rasps and chisels.

I do, at the price of decent quality blanks.

You can build your stock out of dried horse poo, bondo, foam, and a bit of spray paint, and as long as it is sturdy enough and you are happy with the shape and lines, you can essentially count on not losing the cost of that blank as a result of a miscut, as is very possible when scratch-building.

You get a chance to see if your pet ideas fit as well as you hoped, too, before committing a blank to the project.

There is art in running a duplicator too, but the odds of the stock getting ruined in the process are fewer, IMO.

I don't have one, but know R .Wilson that is listed above. That is his business. you have to have a pattern for these to work.

I'm rather frustrated with the options for replacement stocks in Canada.
Anyone who's got some experience with duplicators I can talk to?

What is the "frustration" with the replacements? limited selection or are you finding a quality issue?

I had a duplicator at one point... more trouble than it was worth.
