I'm from Vancouver BC.
If you were able to purchase this pistol which dealer did you go thru to obtain it?

The "Service" model has a 4" barrel, and as such is prohibited. The "Tactical" model with the 5" barrel is available. I got my XD .40 from Wolverine Supplies, and would happily recommend them. Click their ad at the top of the page.

you can buy the service model thru Questar one of the sites sponsors.

Cheers!

Thanks for your response.
I could probably ask Questar directly but while I'm here. So if Questar is able to bring in the service model will it still have the 4inch barrel or will a aftermarket barrel be installed to bring it over 106mm?

It's news to me that they import that one at all (but I suppose they import anything), but if they do, it would have to be a legal length (106mm+) barrel. They could not import, let alone sell, a shorter barreled handgun.

If you ask them and if they have one, see if you can get a pic of an XD Service with a longer barrel posted in this thread. I'm curious to see what that would look like.

Just emailed Questar so I'll post back with the response.

Received email back from Mark @ Questar:
Canadian law does not allow importation of a handgun with a barrel 105mm or less… such a barrel is deemed a Prohibited Device under Canadian law.

So this looks like a "no". Too bad though the service model xd is a very fine looking piece.

ummm? Of course he can't import the 4 inch service XD model becuase its barrel is too short. He can however or anyone can for that matter import a longer barrel for the service and register it as a 107mm or such. How do you think he sells Glock sub compacts? There barrels are like 88mm. But they put an extended barrel instead of the stock short one.

hmm interesting I guess I'll have to inquire further into that. I don't suppose you have pics of the XD service that has an extended barrel that you could post? I'm curious as to how it looks.

Here's a Photoshop i made of what the service XD would look like with a 107mm barrel.

by the way, on my computer screen (17 inch) that pic is actual size! I measured the barrel length. Thats pretty cool.

Thanks for the replies.
I guess when the time comes for me to place and order for that service pistol I'll have to word my request appropriately to get the longer barrel.

that look pretty good!

I don't suppose anyone could do another photoshop jobbie of a Beretta PX4 Storm with a 107mm barrel? I'd like to see what that would look like.
