Anyone In Canada Carry Boyd's Walnut Stock (M305).

Why not call Boyd's and ask them if they have a canadian dealer?? Probably the best way to get the correct answer.

While yer at it, order a stock.... The 100 export limit is yesterday's old news.

Use the search function with the word Boyds... Or walnut... You'll be amazed at all the threads that answer questions you haven't even thought of yet... But have been asked 1000 times before :D

But Boyd's may not have requested or want to have their export $ amount raised, therefore his question would be valid.
It's not a automatic thing having the cap raised to $500'or so I'm told.

But ya if u call Boyd's they will usually sell u the $105 item for $99

Guys have reported here that they have recently ordered walnut from brownells, treeline and I thought boyd's as well, but I could be mistaken on boyds.

Still, these questions get asked about every 10 to 14 days so forgive me if I came off as a smart ass :D
My typical response from now on will be... Don't ask the internet forums.... Pick up a phone and call the source ;)

Nothing to apologize for and my logic generally goes out the window at 2am (followed by "I've made a terrible mistake" when the toddler wakes up between 6 and 7am).

Thanks!

Brownells will be happy to sell you a M1A walnut stock with all the hardware on it. They will ask for a scan of a signed final user statement.

But it's not an instant drop-in into my M305s. Some wood needs to be removed at the right rear top of the stock.

It is a Boyd's made stock.

And Canada Post doesn't seem to want any taxes. Sweet!

As I understand it, you can only buy Boyds stocks from Boyds. No matter though as I spoke to them last week and the limit is raised to $500. I also ordered a stock since I had them on the phone;)

Boyds makes the stocks for the Springfield M1A's.
I ordered by Springfield M1A stock from Brownell's. It came with all the hardware already installed. $241
On the inside of the stock (where the op rod spring is) is stamped "BOYDS/SA"

As it has been mentioned before, you will need to shave off a little wood (about an inch in length, 1-2 millimetres deep) off the top of the stock at the back of where the op-rod track (sorry if I have the nomenclature wrong) sits.

Also, be sure to do the "Hammer Follow" test and the "Tilt Test" to ensure SAFE and proper functioning.

My M305 failed the "Hammer Follow Test" after installing, but after leaving the trigger assembly locked in place for a week, the receiver and trigger assembly "settled in" to the walnut stock and now it passes the "Hammer Follow Test"

Boyds has raised their limit to $500 as well, but I had already ordered from Brownell's. Unfortunately, Boyd's website does not reflect this change, although it was announced on their Facebook presence.

it's good. It comes stained (a brown with a hint of red), however.

I'm debating on refinishing it without the stain, just tung oil

I restocked a Garand a couple years ago with a Boyds. It didn't take much fitting and turned out amazing. Give it a real finish, no stain or shiny crap. IIRC M14s were soaked in tung oil but how were they maintained in the field? Tung or linseed oil? PTO will give a lighter finish, linseed will give a darker finish.

"...followed by "I've made a terrible mistake" when the toddler wakes up between 6 and 7am)..." Only matters if you were drinking. snicker.
"...Canada Post doesn't seem to want any taxes..." Canada Post isn't in the business of collecting taxes. Canada Customs does that.

When you get it, decide whether you're going to strip the stain and refinish it with pure tung oil. Looks better imho, but more work
