Hey guys/gals,

Im looking to borrow a laser boresighter from someone in fort mcmurray. I would order one but would like to get it on paper at 100Yards In the next couple days.

Thanks!

If its a bolt action. Put gun in a solid rest. Remove bolt. Look through the barrel and center it on an object further away the better. Then adjust scope to line up with object you see throught the barrel. Set target at 50 yards take 1 shot. Adjust scope. Fire 1 shot at a 100 yards. Adjust scope. Let barrel cool then fire a grouping to confirm your were you want to be. Done.

The whole prosses from mounting scope to sighted in only takes a few minutes and 5 rounds. Bore sighters are ok for semiautos or levers but completly useless for bolt actions. I found the prosses I just described is also more accurate than a bore sighter.

I wouldn't bother with a laser bore sighter, as I find them pretty much useless, in that I haven't seen one yet that would reliably have you on the paper at 100 yards for the first shot. However, when using my collet type, optical boresighter, I am almost always on the paper at 100 yards, with the first shot. I have used my own boresighter literally hundreds of times for myself and for other shooters at the range, and it has paid for itself several times over in ammunition saved, since I don't bother starting at 25 yards or 50 yards like most people.

Go to the Ft Mac range, take a target staple it at the 25 meter back stop. Take a cardboard box cut a v in the back to level the rifle on the target. Pull out the bolt, sight it on the centre of your bulls eye, and adjust your scope cross hairs to line up on the same spot. Fire a shot to confirm. Adjust if necessary. Easy and simple. Once your on target, take your target to the 100 meter backstop and do any final adjustment. Very simple and easy

Chuck Hawkes info is good but I prefer using a target at 25 yards to do the bore sighting although 50 yards works well in smaller bore diameters.
Then move the cross hairs to the center of the target while maintaining bore alignment.
Fire one shot at 25 yards.
Holding the rifle on the point of aim, move the cross hairs to the bullet hold.
One may fire another shot at 25 but I normally find the rifle will be on paper at 100 and the finer adjustments are best made there.
