Anyone in PEI hunt, and have some willingness to show a new guy the ropes??

A good buddy of mine moved to PEI last year, and really wants to get into hunting (deer, he's thinking), but knows nobody there aside from work buddies, none of whom even shoot, much less hunt.

He's not on CGN, so can't post here, but is anyone experienced looking for a hunting buddy, or open to mentoring a new guy? He's a reasonably competent range-only shooter, but totally new to hunting. Nice guy, PAL and RPAL, has his own guns....

It’s not rocket science to register a CGN account.
Then he’ll be able to ask his own questions and peruse a lot of information from other PEIers.
 
He can't be bothered to register and post a thread, but you want someone to "take" him hunting... uhmm... yeah...

He's only trying to help out his friend. But yeah to the OP not a good sign if he doesnt follow your advice and sign up himself. If he wont listen to you (a dozen times) and youre his friend what is he going to do with a stranger trying to teach hin things...kind of a red flag ya know? Makes him seem like a bit of a flake.

Tell him to get in contact with the PEI Wildlife Federation. Good contacts there.

Great waterfowl hunting for sure
MY bud from PEI comes to Nova Scotia to hunt deer
I am shocked the OP's friend works in PEI and the locals he works with do not hunt geese. Christ everyone hunts geese over there

Will do, thanks for the feedback. Buddy's not a flake, but busy with his year-old son and new job. You're all correct though, I'm just trying to help out, but it really is his thing, not mine!
 
No whitetails on PEI in recorded history.

Caribou were shot off probably hundreds of years ago.

Black bears were shot off around a hundred years ago.

Your buddy will have to go to NS or NB to go big game hunting, but the goose hunting on PEI is fantastic, and there are lots of black ducks too. Start there. Lots of rabbits in some areas. I grew up in Lot 16 and the place was lousy with them.
