Anyone know a good source for Thompson M2 oilers

I'm pretty familiar with all of the Thompson variants, however, there isn't an M2. There is (by and large) the 1921, 1928, 1927a1 (latest commercial), M1 and M1A1.

Also what exactly is he looking for as, "oiler tube" doesn't compute.

Maybe ask a couple more questions from your bud, and get back, and we'll see what we can find.

Hi,

He has a Thompson M1 with FJA, GEG and Crossed Cannon's cartouches. He got it from the Czech Republic. He's in Sweden or something like that.

He's looking for the oiler that apparently fits in the buttstock?

Tell him to check with Ohio Ordnance. The oil bottle looked like a round bottle with the sides cut flat. (don't know if that makes sense) And then it had a thin ... argggghhhh I'll post pics as soon as I can.

When they were issued to the Commonwealth countries, a regular Lee Enfield oil bottle was also used.

he knows where to get one in the US but they wont ship it to him?? He's in sweden or denmark, (cant remember at the moment) its where all the blonde chicks come from.

I cant see why they wouldnt ship a friggin oiler, but he stated they wont ship anything to him that is for an automatic weapon?

Hi
The M1 and M1A1 Thompson used the M2 Oiler Metal tube about 4 in long I think all US small used the M2 oiler a little longer than the Lee Enfield Oil bottle.
Cheers

I think you are talking about the one that is a tad over 4.5 in long, blackened metal body flat on 2 sides, round on 2 sides, with a spout extension and a silver colored metal cap which screws on to cover the spout.Im holding one(with original oil) as I type. There is another one which is also metal and which resembles a shortened enfield oiler. The first type is for the M1928,the second for the M1 and m1A1.

did you want to sell it by chance?:)

Finally got some time to take a couple of pics.
Here is a close up of 2 of the Thompson oilers. (gawd how I hate saying the O word) The 1921 oiler had a nickel finish. The black one is from a pre war 1928 and has a black crackle type paint finish. It still has the felt "washer" that prevented it from rattling inside the butt stock storage area.
The one on the right is the brass oiler found inside a war time '28 that originally had the sling swivel on the front vertical grip. Usually done in Britain. I'm thinking it's just a regular Enfield oil bottle. During that time period, I don't think they were too concerned with "correctness". And who knows, maybe the original was lost, and simply replaced with this brass one??

Hope the pics are of assistance.

sorry for the late reply

thank you all for the assistance, I'll pass the info on maybe we can just do the enfield oiler.

I'll get him to post some videos of him shooting his full autos for us on you tube as payment.

He sent one a few years ago of his BAR 1918A2 after I bought my deact ROT deact and I,ve hated him ever since:)
