Cabelas Canada has them. Just wondering if it's decent or a dud. I bought the Rem "tactical" 597 a while ago and it's been a jammo-matic so I'm a little leery. Never been disappointed in any Mossberg I've had though. Any opinions, good, bad or ugly, are appreciated.

Just keep in mind it's a $269 gun and you'll be fine. It's built on the 702 platform so it'll be as good as that the plus cheapo bling for "coolness". I like it for what it is.

Yes you can spend hundreds and hundreds more but for a fun toy why? None of the tactical guns, SR22, 597 VTR, etc. will be a "real" assault rifle with a centerfire cartridge and semi auto/full auto capabilities here in Canada so we have to take what we can.

And to mlehtovaara: Yes your super soaker may feel the same but it's actually a toy. Just like those airsoft guys.

The Mossy tactical is a real gun that that has been confirmed to perform exactly like it's price range predicts, and maybe even a little better.

Damn! Someone got to the supersoaker comment before me! I held one today, and you feel like your holding a $65.00 rifle, not $300.00, spend your money on something worthwhile, I came home and ordered that JW 15 backpacker, that looks like a good value, and kinda unique. Just my 2cents.

Kind of an "apples vs. oranges" I think.

Plastic Tacticool cheap semi or cheap bolt action wood covered?

I have one, it's cool. For 300 bucks it's loads of fun and pretty cool looking, my kid likes it too.

is there and echo in here?

mossberg 22...... mossberg 22....

I really wanted to like it, but the plastic wrecked it for me....especially the picatinny rails.
Apparently they are strong enough, but the feel of them just rubs me the wrong way. I'm sure the 702 "heart" is fine though.

If your thinking of one of these Mossberg junkers, do yourself a favour and buy a Armscor M-1600. Cheap and not bad. Mind you mine is from the 70's when they were made from real wood and steel for Squires & Bingham, So the new ones may not be as good.

This just in...

The Armscor M-1600 is the ugliest attempt at a tacticool rifle ever made!

I also bet it costs twice as much.

True the S&B model 16 and 16R are not the prettiest. kinda a sad attempt at a vietnam era "m16" look. they look better with the wood instead of the black. Having said that the actual gun bits on it are not too bad (better than the plinksters or 702's), they retail for around 290.00 and you can get one like my 35 year old one for around 150.00 (or maybe less). At the end of the day, as the old cliche goes, if one has the money to spend, start with a 10/22 and build it up with aftermarket, or even better, build your own parts, stocks etc. I must also say that I am tired of the term "tacticool", it makes people sound kinda ###.

Worst case if you don't like it, you are only out $300! And then you can just toss it in the recycle bin and put it out on the curb! LOL

Seriously though it seems to just be a cheap housing on a well know action. Seems to work just fine for plinkin, just dont drop it!

I agree with that one, tacticool is a pretty ### term but what else can you call a 22 that mimics an AR? Cause theres not much tactical about a 22.

Thats the finger tight thing I've been hearing about? I'll try it on mine too seems to be jamming on and off since I last took it apart and cleaned it..
