Ok so i have a 1953 sks
i recently picked up this scope
sksscope.jpg

and it looked really nice i thought anyway
IMG130.jpg

more importantly accuracy went through the roof
however after 30 rounds or so it would get really loose
now i tried again the other day however i found if i tightened it too much the bolt would
not cycle its as if its getting pinched
now im guessing either i need to shave the inside of the scope base or its just unusable
i refuse to get the receiver drilled ruining the rifle in my opinion
does anyone have one of these and how did you get it to work

Ganderite secured his top cover by tapping it for a 1/4"X20tpi screw, thereby locking it in place from side to side. Not sure what the accessory top cover is made from. I have heard the quality of these replacement top covers that come with the scope varies tremendously from unit to unit. Good luck.

Edit: you said it was pinching the bolt carrier. I'm thinking (this might be me talking out of my ass), but I am thinking there are places you could possibly remove metal on the accessory top cover to allow the bolt carrier freedom of movement, but still allow the accessory cover to be synched down. YMMV

This is the best I can come up with without examining the thing in detail. You be the judge.

DID YOU USE LOCKTITE TO SECURE THE THREADS? DID YOU USE LOCKWASHERS? people forget this with regularity.

see the sks scope mounting sticky. I think the best route is adapting a PU Mosin Nagant clone mount to fit, or the Weaver Convert-A-mount. Both require careful layout, drilling, and tapping of at least 2 holes in the receiver, but imo it's worth the effort to do properly (you get satisfactory and repeatable results).
