Anyone know the story behind this Coyote video?

I don't know about this video in particular, but I asked someone to watch this who has hunted and trapped (no longer traps) Coyotes in Alberta over 40 years. After seeing this he said there was only four reasons possible for this to happen:

1. This animal is partially domesticated, either by feeding or breeding: it is playing or wanted to be hand fed.

2. This animal is a mother with a den very close by, maybe in the ditch: there is some insane protection mentality.

3. The animal has a lot of balls, but has a bunch of friends in the woods: sometimes they "bait" animals this way hoping to be chased to the pack. Most cats/dogs get eaten this way.

4. Lastly, this animal is NUTS! Either diseased or just crazy.

Just what I was told to say......... :yingyang:

Aniest - I was thinking it must have been fed by this guy before - but still, the boot biting thing. I hope it is in a really remote area because I sure wouldn't want to see any kids near that animal.

It looks like he is trying to take a bite out of the camera, thinking it's food being offered. No doubt he has been fed a lot.

...And this is how some people get killed by wild animals.

Why would he even allow the coyote to approach him and bite his boot?

The coyote might seem cute and playful, but he's actually "testing the waters".

Definitely partially domesticated at least. He's not acting aggressively. Notice his ears are perked up and foreward, not laid back. He's not baring teeth, he's not growling or anything. He's playing.

The problem with this I think is that when it's raising a litter of pups, it can teach them to have no fear of humans. That coyote might be more dangerous than a wild one :S
