Anyone know what this military cartridge is?

25mm bushmaster, your links are all mixed up, they all face the same way and they interlock. there are little nubs that sit in the groove on the front end of the case, but the grooves get ironed out when they are fired.
also, the staff of this sight think they are all stolen, so your not allowed to sell them on the EE

Stolen? I bought it at a local Army surplus store. It carried many things that were once army material, like boots, coats, snowshoes, ammo cans, a deactivated Bren, bayonets, blankets, etc. Were all those items stolen too?

Ever seen a C7 in a surplus store? CF issued body armor? Some things never get sold as surplus, and if the mods here (many of which are serving members of the CF) say they're stolen I'd be inclined to listen rather than be a smartass.

Meh a hunter drives around in a training area and has a chance of running into these. Sure you are not suppost to have em. Cause somebody somewhere messed up. And in the words of my warrant. "Steal" ammo parts of a range and you are eligible for 2 years minus 1 day to camp edmonton

I sit on ranges every day and I am not allowed to take "brass" ( those are steel caes) off the range. very little 25 mm steel case is in civie hands. Some was sold as scrap but the scrap dealers are supposed to shread it. Now brass is a diffrent matter.

CF surpluses very little.
The US forces surpluses all sorts of stuff.
It is entirely possible it was properly surplussed by the US gov, then properly imported into Canada.
That is how the same cases in my collection got here.

That's where these ones most likely come from. These belts have been available in most army surplus stores for a while now and are perfectly legal to sell. I don't see any reason why you couldn't sell them here.

I think some members are incorrectly assuming these disappeared off a CF range. If you want to pretend to be military police there's at least three shops here in Ottawa selling them.

I am not sure what the policies are now, but back a few years ago, some of the Salvage Dealers in Lethbridge, Alberta, had all kinds of stuff that was picked up on the range and sold as scrap.

To name a few, fired 81mm Mortar Heavy and Light Illumination rounds, 2.75 inch Rocket Casings including some that were originally loaded with Fleshettes, 7.62x51 and .50 Browning brass by the bagfull, and 2 inch Mortar Illumination rounds. I have seen pallets of Small Arms Ammunition steel boxes, and up to 30mm steel boxes, and you can buy them at the local Princess Auto Store almost any time.

At a scrap dealers, I have bought 25 pounder solid Anti-Tank projectiles picked up on the ranges and sold as scrap, and one dealer in Lethbridge even had a cut up barrel from the HARP Project.

I am still using 1976 IVI produced 7.62x51 brass that I bought by the burlap bag full at 27 cents a pound.

As far as parts and other things go, I even found C1 Safety Sears and Springs in an Edmonton surplus store. The owner had bid on a "lot" and two boxes of these were in that Lot, along with other things.

Almost any Gun Show in the United States had this stuff for sale. Not sure what the regulations are now, or what Homeland Security and Canadian Customs thinks about it now, but a few years ago, you could buy it easily.

However, I do agree that if you are in the Service, and you pick up and keep even one fired brass casing from the range, you will be in a world of hurt if found out. Remember the line up after firing on the range, and policing up the brass. "Sir, I have no live rounds or empty casings" was a standard declaration.

"...CF surpluses very little..." Any more. The CF is short of everything as it is. Still there is lots of stuff that you'd think was never released on the civilian market. Any Inglis HP, for example. And the very last C1A1 made(documented as such too) is in civilian hands.
"...any Gun Show in the United States..." Fair number of 'em here too.

Well I'm a serving member and I can tell you that the old style flak vests like the one I had in Bosnia sure ended up for sale in many army surplus stores, I used to see them all the time. I even have a few boxes of DND marked 22LR ammo that I bought from SAIL Canada a few years ago.

i got a bunch of it that is canadian marked, it was bought in a large pile from a scrap dealer in quebec, all the stamps on the cases indicate it is canadian training ammo, and they are steel like the OPs.

all used brass is sold for scrap on the crown assets website . and all the now it all types ,can check ,if there so inclined.
