Anyone know where these markings are from?
stocks are no1 mkIII smle

The ED joined is the post 1929 mark of Enfield.

British. /l\ property mark. Crown over number marks are inspectors' stamps. The E+D mark is for Enfield.

So these would be wrong on a 1941 Lithgow made rifle I guess....

The proper stock for a Lithgow rifle would be coach wood, If the Lithgow rifle was repaired in the UK it might get new wood. Complete coach wood stocks do come up now and then on ebay, or you can get the stock bit by bit.
