I have been trying to find a full wood stock for my 71/74 Mauser (as well as a couple barrel bands). I put an add up in the EE, but does anyone know where a good place to look for one of these would be?
Thanks,
Paul

Paul;
Try Linford Walter Restorations, he's in the States but I believe will ship to Canada. A bit pricey about $175 +/-, depending on your choices etc.

Hard thing to find. I have looked for one for four or five years and have seen two, missed both. There were so many 71/84's sold as surplus here early in the 20th century and the vast majority immediately had the stock chopped off on the front end because they were super long and weighed roughly the equivalent of a coal barge. And there are a lot of guys looking for original wood to restore these old rifles. The repro might be the way to go as John303 says.

I suppose one could look for an original, they run about $1200 to $1500 don't they??
Even finding one with an uncut barrel / mag. tube is iffy but luckily I have 2 in very
nice condition. The hardest part to find stock cap with the side mounted bayonet lug.
If the dollar was a bit better I would suggest talking to Linford about a group buy, I
would go for one - depending. Anyway just all take care --- John
