Okay, i have been looking around for a small section of Mil. Std. 1913 picatinny rail, that is STEEL.

I only need like 4 or 5 cross slots long, but if i have to get longer and cut it down then i will.

Its not actually being used for an optic, but rather a custom made light mount I made for my Benelli M4 shotgun, that replaces the front sling loop. I already have the bracket made up, all i need is a section of picatinny rail, but it NEEDS to be all steel, and if possible, to have the relief cut down the middle (not necessary), like the stock optic rail on the Benelli M4 does.

It needs to be steel, since im going to be drilling and tapping directly into the steel base, then hopefully welding the screws to the picatinny rail so they dont come loose.

My original plan was to weld the rail directly to the bracket, but im not sure if the bracket, (which is 2.5mm thick sheet steel originally from an outside gate hinge :p) will weld properly. It is plenty thick to hold a screw head tho.

I was looking at some Valdada "heavy duty 2-piece scope bases" since they're steel, but i cant seem to find much, other than those big 1913 rail "blanks" which is wayyyy more than i need. Also, i'd like to get it from Canada, since the border always takes so long to get stuff though when i order it...

So does anybody know where to get some relatively inexpencive (i'd say under 100 dollars) solid steel Picatinny rail sections?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D

Brownells has un-contoured bases, I believe for gunsmith fitting. That would work.

Yeah, I think those are the gunsmithing blanks i was checking out before. :)

There would be a lot of waste tho since i only needed an inch or so long of it.

But in any case, I have Kyle Precision making something up for me :D

Awesome guys, very friendly and very helpful! :D
