I know people get aftermarket stocks for it, but has anyone made their own?

I'm going to go check out an SKS today and if I'll end up getting one, I'll probably try to make a nicer stock for it - pistil grip, maybe dragonov style. always wanted to make a stock for a long gun :)

anyways anyone tried anything like that??

Shame...

I still have one in the work-in-progress stage (about two years)... :p
It started as a common SKS stock on which I reshaped the front end, and grafted a remodeled rear end to allow use of telescopic sights.
Once done, I'm going to test-fire it and try to have someone duplicate it in wood AND/OR fiberglass.
PP.

one piece

yes the reciever cover is one piece with the buttstock, pull the cover pin and off she comes, you may have to loosen the cover side bolts if you have them cranked in. I am taking it to the range today!!:50cal:

This is why I like these guns, they are inexpensive, reliable, durable but low enough cost that a custom build like that does not ruin the gun. I actually love that and other custom builds like these. Lets see some more guys!! My stuff will not be ready for at least a month and is no where near picture time.
