Can you elaborate on exactly what part of the "peep" is missing? Is it the entire elevation/horizontal bar assembly, the peep holder that engages the threading, or just the actual screw-in eyepiece that is missing? If the later, I bet Skinner Sights would be able to make you up a replacement.
The cast piece that the apeture screws into is gone, it moves laterally when you spin the dial on the left side. Obviously the screws, and dial are gone as well.
And thanks for the input Bearhunter... the military sights are not an option as the barrel has been changed as well. A much slimmer and shorter barrel has been installed. If not for the thumb cutout for a stripper clip, I'd have thought it was a sporting rifle originally.
I did get it shooting though
( can't justify more $$$ if it won't do the task ), Home Hardware supplied some thumb screws and nuts...1/8" IIRC. Drilled a wee hole, way down low and shaped the nuts with a file so they drop into the inletting on the rail. Lined the hole up at the '0' mark an brewed up some reloads. It'll ring my 100 yard gong offhand
( that's important IMO, it's easy to put down itty-bitty groups perched on a shooting bench...I hunt...therefore extreme accuracy involves 'Taking a knee' ) quite easily if I do my part...100 yard gong being a piece of track plate 8 x 12
( angled back at about 60 degrees to direct the shrapnel into the sky.
It's a Poorboy solution at best, but that's perhaps an apt description of this carbine. The Mutt's and Old Dog's follow me home.

Oh and it's not a .318 bore, someone was sure to mention that too.
I can take some pictures when it gets light out, fired up imagur yesterday... if anyone is curious to see it. It needs some screws to tighten up a cracked wrist as well...anyone who is familiar when repairing wood, your opinion would be valued as well.
