I've been reloading 16 ga. for around 20 years or so for my wife primarily. Her mother passed along a Win.Model 12 to her around 20 years ago and a couple years ago we picked up a very close to mint Ithaca 37 Featherlight that she just loves.I load them up on an old,low tech but reliable Lee Load-All.!6ga. is definitely worth reloading from what I'm seeing for factory priced ammo.

I reload 16 bore steel loads on a mec jr. Components for lead loads are getting harder to find. I mostly buy lead loads by the case when I see a good deal. Winchester loads from Prophet River are always reasonable and Canada Ammo often has Fiocchi target and field loads on a good deal. Both are contributing dealers here on the sight.

Any of you guys load 16ga in #4 buck or BB. I can not find any big factory ammo.

No you won't find it up here any more I would say unless someone sells some turkey/ coyote loads maybe
I did both years ago but none lately. Heavy stuff is 10ga now
Probally if you need them still have the receipes however either in the 16ga or buckshot manuals I bought from Ballastic products or it would be in the early lymans I would say which I have somewhere back to No.1
No.4 buck you can still buy to reload but BB lead would be hard I think to find in canada
Know I don't have any BB lead but did buy some small jugs of No.4 and no.1 from will about 2 years ago
He had to order them in for me from the US

update
yep ballastic products stocks 8 pound bottles of no.4 buck and lead BB so will can get it. I found if you double the price on the US site convert to canadian dollars and add about 20
% that will get you in the ball park for what it will cost here to my door but I only have two orders also to base this on.
Best to give Will a call. There was a place in Ontario and not epps that also had 5 pound boxes of No. 4 buck I bought in stock in the last couple of years. Shooters something ??? maybe

I found some factory 16ga in #1 buck. I want it to use on Jack Rabbits so I was really hoping for #4 buck or BB.
I will try it out, see how it patterns. If nothing else, I can use it on coyotes.

Generally what would one use #1 buck for?

Honestly today it is the recommended shotgun home defense ammo. I quote
In all shotshell loads, number 1 buckshot produces more potentially effective wound trauma than either #00 or #000 buck by approx 30%. In addition, number 1 buck is less likely to over-penetrate and exit an attacker's body."
It works great on coyotes for sure in 10ga and should be fine in the 16ga. Don't know about jack rabbits since I have never hunted or shot one sorry
