Anyone own a benelli super sport?

I own the wood version, the Sport II and it's a fantastic gun. The Super Sport is NOT carbon fibre but a hydro dipped finish to look like it. They carry/shoot/swing wonderfully and maintenance is a breeze. Just replace the silly recoil pad with a Limbsaver and you'll be golden.

Well I will throw my experience with Benelli at you and see if it helps.
I recently purchased an Ethos, 12 gauge, with the inertia drive. I primarily use it for clays, and have put about 400 shells through it so far.
To take it apart and clean it is a breeze. The only dirty part is the barrel. After 400 rounds the action is still clean as a whistle. That's the inertia system right there. It doesn't build up nearly as much fouling as a gas system.
The unfortunate part though is the recoil. It's harsh to say the least. Its not too bad with the light target loads, but once I get up about round 50-60 it really starts to wear me down.
The reason I'm saying this is because all Benellis use the inertia system, and all of them are going to give you a good kick. If you're ok with that then have at it. If not, then look at a Beretta A400 excel. Softer shooting, and I think it's a bit cheaper too.

You're right about the recoil, but I find things improve considerably with a better recoil pad. I use Limbsavers on my Benellis and they make a significant difference. I shoot 1oz loads for clay games and can shoot comfortably all day.

Yeah I'm shooting the light 1oz target loads too. I was thinking about some kind of recoil pad for it, however it has this thing called "progressive comfort system" which supposedly is meant to reduce felt recoil. I'm not too sure if it actually is working though, nor am I sure if I could replace it with something else. Maybe an added slip on pad over top of it?
They also have a thicker pad you can put on the back which would increase the LOP to 15". Not sure what that would do to the fit though.

Limbsaver make a replacement pad for the Benelli that simply snaps into the recess in the butt using an adapter plate. I have installed these on two Benelli's. I do not find the recoil excessive with these recoil pads.
Did the new recoil pad add to LOP?
Benelli Super sport is a very nice shotgun, had issues with failure to cycle but with regular cleaning that should not be an issue. Had a piece of my but bad fall off for some reason (maybe a bubble in the molding) but that is about it for 850$ it would be hard to go wrong with this gun.
