Anyone own a Pietta Peacemaker? What do you think?

I'm considering picking up a Pietta SAA from Marstar - but I want to know what people think of them....let me know.

ADDED - Also - would you go with .45 Long Colt, or .357?

I don't own one but I've used a friend's a few times (nickel plated 357). They seem to be an ok revolver, certainly worth the money being asked for them. FWIW - dan

I love mine, 51/2 barrel, 45 L.C. good shooter and loads of fun.

Piper - what are the .45 LC rounds worth? Are they expensive? Whats the recoil like? Is the gun accurate?

My rounds are all reloads, I havn't bought any factory ammo for years so I don't know what they cost. I loaded a few to factory specs and they have a pretty hefty recoil, but loaded down a bit it's quite pleasant to shoot. I'm still experimenting with various loads, but it seems to be quite accurate. The limitation of course is the fixed sights.

i've found factories when you can get them in the 33-35 dollar class/50 - even the brass is rare and expensive , even more so than 44 mag- recoil is like a step up from 45acp but not near as bad a 44 mag full power-

Here's the review I did of mine a few weeks ago. They are as close to Colt 2nd gen as you can get without spending Colt 2nd Gen money IMHO.

My only beef with mine is that when you unload, the cylinder doesn't index to the ejection port unless you hold the cylinder still with your finger while you work the ejection rod. A minor issue, really.

I would definitely recommend them.

PS: .45 LC is my choice, though if you do alot of CAS, .38SPL is faster and cheaper to shoot. In short - .38 SPL in the .357 SAA clone is more competitive, but I would argue the .45 LC guns are more fun - AND historically correct.

Really? Mine seems to line up perfectly, and our both seemed to be comparable, aside from mine being from last year's batch @Marstar. It could be a slight timing issue, but one that I'm not qualified to recommend a fix for.
