My R1 .30-06 will shoot the same groups with a cold/warm or hot barrel sub MOA all day long. We were doing some field shooting last week and I put a clip "4shots" inside 2.5'' at nearly 300yds from a standing position with no shooting sticks. On the bench I can usually put 3shots in a nickle at 100yds and 3shots in a toonie at 200yds.
I have never shot a BAR so I cnat say which one is better but if your going to spend over $1,000 on a hunting rifle you might as well buy the best right?...![]()

And back in high school I used to throw the pigskin a quarter mile!!!

I have the same sort of results with my R1 in 300 win mag. First time out I thought it must have been a mistake... More testing is needed.
The freaky part is how cool the barrel is after shooting several 3 shot mags through it. And the barrel doesn't seem to "open up" due to heat like other rifle barrels. Something to be said for the cryo barrel tempering.
Anyway more semi auto hunting rifles on the market is a good thing IMHO.
knock it all you want your opinion of the R1 holds no weight unless you shoot one or see one being shot. The guys at my range called BS on my results until last weekend when I put their bolt action guns to shame.
dont believe me buy an R1 and try for your self![]()
Hahaha, I own an R1 and the gun is awesome. Definitely an MOA gun, my response was in regards to your spectacular 2.5" groups off hand at 300 yards, definitely a feat indeed. Who needs sandbags or benchrests
Please note, I have both an R1 in 300 Win Mag and Browning BAR Lightweight Stalker, they are very accurate and reliable, but the Benelli is a much nicer weapon! Cheers and next time try for 4" groups at 400 yards offhand
