Mine's beat up and looking rather rough :( still shooting though :D

Thinking of throwing a coat of Khaki Krylon camouflage paint on it and see what's what.

Before I do though, anyone else do some painting of there own?

Thinking about it. The finish (next to the bead sight) is the weakest part of it. Very weak imo. Have already had $400 worth of work done to it though. Having a hard time justifying having it finished properly. Maybe Krylon is the way to go!

$400 worth of work done to it? What did you do? Buy it a twin brother and a deluxe two gun case?

FIrst off I didn't want that to sound too negative. This is a $300 gun and there are going to be compromises.

- Wilson Combat sights (hate bead sights)
- VCS oversized safety
- VCS metal follower (what is with plastic followers??)
- Remington trigger and sear
- Mesa Tactical shell carrier
- trigger pull lightened and smoothed out
Work done by Casey at Tacord. EXCELLENT workmanship and really nice guy.

Actually its more than $400. Also have 12" LOP Hogue stock and forend on order, going to order SJ sling mount, Blue-force sling and Eagle stock shell carrier.

Will be very slick....... except for the finish. Also, (and this may be way off base) but I'm guessing the metal on these Chines knock-off guns might not be up to the standard of say Dlask so not sure its worth it to spend on a good finish. Would like to get it done properly but this is adding up.

Jeebus artie - i don't think i have anything I want shot bad enough to drop 400 bucks into a 300 dollar gun :D But it sounds like hell on wheels - slick rig!

Haven't painted it but the barrel has been parkerized, after adding Remington sights...also trigger parts were swapped out for Remington pieces and Wilson Combat Oversize safety was added. All my shotguns have Remington sights, either purchased or added later.

Ike, that shotgun is outstanding. I gotta thing for old school, combat shotguns. I've been wanting to add Remington rifle sight to my 14" barrel for quite some time now, just need to save the cash up.

Nester, is your shotgun beat up looking from heavy use and abuse, or is the finish not durable? Let's see some pics of it. Don't get to see too many pictures of heavily used guns around here.

Thanks Leg, I like old school too :)
I have since changed the buttstock out to an old Wingmaster with the fleur-de-lis checkering for an even nicer look.
Cheers

I painted my Norinco HP9-1...turned out awesome.

1) Sanded
2) Cleaned with steel wool & alcohol
3) Primed with Krylon gray primer
4) Painted with Krylon olive and tan/khaki

Result (sorry for the small pics)

Sorry, I meant that tongue-in-cheek. I've spent several times the initial price of my 10/22 on upgrading/personalizing it. When the new shipment of Grizzlies clears customs, I'll probably order one and start shopping around for a SpecialOps stock which is why this thread caught my attention.

Now I'm kinda torn between the old school woody and the two-tone krylon repaint though....:D
