anyone put a scope on a savage rascal

I bought a savage rascal for my grandson last summer and now he says he wants a scope on it...so off to the gun store I go and buy the rascal bases which are designed to fit regular weaver style rings. I mounted an extra 4x bushnell i had sittng around and the scope looks way to big for that little gun. Just wondering if anyone else has tried mounting a scope on one of these savage rascals or if someone makes a base to fit it that would accomodate the 3/8's regular 22 scope mounts.

I installed a BSA 2.5 shotgun scope on my granddaughters'. Ended up taking it off and going back to open sights. For no particular reason, though.
 
I've got no idea what so ever WHY this thread got moved to the Hunting and Sporting Shotgun forum? I tried a Red Dot on it and so far the grandson loves it. Does savage make a shotgun called a rascal???
 
Most important for my young sons Rascal .22LR was it had to be lightweight and simple. I ended up mounting a Simmons Mag 22 fixed 4X. That combo balances well and works great.
