Anyone recommends cheap scope for Savage 10FP?

FWIW, I just ordered a Leupold Mk 4 clone (3.5-10x40) off of ee-bai... 82.66$ shipped to my door.

I have one of those too. Works great. I bought it initially for a 22LR, then put it opn a 6.5 ... and now this 308. My inly "tactical" scope is a 4x, and it's not enough for range work.
My clone was a little more expensive though.... where'd you get yours?

I have a Barska Varmint 8x32x50 on mine.......Great scope for the price.

I'm glad you like yours and I guess the lesson to take away is that Barska has inconsistent quality... the 6-24X50 that I bought to try is the cheapest piece of shyte I've ever seen. Tracking so bad as to be called unrepeatable and horrible to look through at max magnification. I looked through one of their spotting scopes and they are no better.

For big magnification with awesome glass and a low price tag, try a Mueller Irradicator. I have bought several from the US for around 200 USD. Pretty good deal considring the exchange rates. About 230 CDN landed here in Canada. I have owned 3 and never had a problem.

Tasco 2.5 x 10 great scope for the money. I have one on my Savage 10 FP 308 and have shot a group of 5 shots inside a quarter at a 100 yards..

I can verify that. Here's a 5 shot group I shot with Rem700's Savage rifle using factory IVI 150 grain soft point ammo. This was my first time shooting this rifle. Not as tight a group as he can shoot with it but not bad for a first try. The 'flyer' was my 5th shot:

Was so impressed with the rifle that I finally acquired one of my own. Topped mine with a Bushnell Elite 3200 fixed 10x mil-dot.

These Savage 10 rifles shoot great!

I prefer fixed power scopes because they are simler and more reliable - especially in the cheaper models. The fixed 10 mentioned above works well as an entry level target scope. For a few dollars more you can get a 16X or 20X Super Sniper, a 30mm scope with an adjusbale objective. I have 4 of them and am pleased.

For hunting you might be better served with a cheap 3X or 4X fixed scope instead of getting a zoom.
