Anyone run a carry handle mounted optic?

Like the title says, I’m wondering if anyone on here has an optic mounted above the carry handle. Red dot? Scope? Is the height from bore axis too much? Too high for a good cheek weld. For what it’s worth I find the carry handle A2 sights a little low. Must have fat cheeks
I like mine with the carry handle and enjoy using the iron sights but have thought it would be nice to do some longer range shooting and the eyes aren’t what they used to be. A see through carry handle rail would be my choice if I go that route.

Delta Force use to run it like that. It’s not up to modern standards but it does work.

I ran a scope on the carry handle of a Colt AR15A2 for years. Worked great. Height was fine.

I've had a Colt scope on my SP1 for years, no issues and most carry handle mounts have a hole through them so you can still use irons.

I've also used my old ACOG TA01 on a carry handle and buddy of mine uses a Mepro M21 on a gooseneck mount on his shorty Israeli build.

I've got a Colt 3x scope on a carry handle mount mostly because I wanted the "Vietnam" era look on my M16 replica AR.

Hey thanks for the input guys. I’m going to go that way I think. At least for a while. I really like the ACOG on the lowest rail possible above the handle but still see through to use the irons as well.

Does anyone still make a direct fit Aimpoint carry handle mount that is available here? The only one that i've ever seen is the ARMS #16A, but that seems to be discontinued.

Carry handle mount is the true patrician’s taste. Especially something like a Colt 3x on an A1 clone, or an early ACOG on an A2 clone.

I have an older Trijicon RX01 reflex and I think I’m going to order a Trijicon RX10 mount to put it forward and in line with the irons. It’s something different to try.

Throw a Meprolight M21 with the carry handle adapter on it. It sits forward of the carry handle. This is what we used in Israel on our CAR15s. You don't need a cheek riser with this setup.
