Does anyone have a WSM and or Long Action (30-06) Model 700, full 24" barrel, sitting in an EDGE and or a McSwirly? If so what are they weighing in at in either stock and how do they balance?

My EDGE is a 700 BDL in 270Win. 23" fluted Gaillard bbl in factory contour. Weighs 7lb empty with VXII 3x9 in Tally LWs. Handles well.

McSwirley's are for the heretics on the 24HourCampfire. Endless debate and digital masturbation about "80% green 10% grey and 10% black" and back-rubbing for guys that guess the ratio right on another guy's riflestock. I like synthetic stocks, but the Custom Rifle forum over there is almost enough to make you barf, which, oddly enough, is often what McSwirleys look like.

Oh Gee BUM...I could almost swear the title of this thread was "Anyone running full size Model 700's in McEDGE's and McSwirlys?"

Not "Come on in here and ##### about McSwirlys and The CampFire".....

Everyone else, thank you for your replies, I just traded my Sako 85 off for an A7 and some gear/cash. I'll be selling all that to put together a CDL SF 30-06/300 WSM in a Mickey of some sort as my new mid-weight moose gun. :shotgun:

Phew! I thought I was the only one. I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me.

LOL! ....... Funny, but true. :p

.

Dont you start with them now too! :D I was figuring an EDGE stocked LA 700 would be around 7 pounds, just wanted to double check.

Oh and Chuck, it'd be a Mountain Rifle pattern. :)

According to some notes I made in the past the barreled action of a Model 700 SS in .280 Rem (24" barrel) is 5lbs 1oz, so I suspect you should be quite a bit under 7lbs.
