I want to get into a .17 centerfire, don't reload(yet), so need to find some factory ammo for one of them somewhere...the gun i can worry about later. Anyone seen any 17 rem ammo on shelves somewhere?

Good call...8 boxes, didn't get what grain...going to go for the fireball i've decided....guns are so much fun!...especially shopping for new ones.:)

Thanks.

both cartridges are obscure enough that they're really not suited for one who doesn't handload. Options are limited and availability may not be reliable.

I'd suggest that unless you intend on handloading, stick with a more common cartridge so that you don't find yourself in a case where you can't get ammo, or can't get ammo that works well in your gun

Yeah...i've been postponing as long as possible....the rem ammo seems easier to find...the fireball must be popular...probably eaten up by reloaders for the brass(searching throught the firearms section of predatormasters.com) and even the .221 brass seems to be eaten up so it can be turned into 17 fireball etc.

I guess i'm still early on this one? I remember some of this with the .17 hmr and .204 also...i suspect with remingtons launch we'll wait longer than with the hornady launches? They don't seem to have anyone else on board.
