Anyone seen a Kar88 in Canada?

- Saw one at the last Orangeville Gunshow, but two things were wrong with it.
a) Barel had been changed, but seller said he still had the original barrel but rifling was poor.
b) Finally the price was ridiculous at $1650.00

I believe I remember reading that exporting antiques from the U.S. requires paperwork from them though the good news is, it should be a lot less than a registered post 1899 dated firearm. I think this antique export paperwork is something that only an importer can fill out.
I have been toying with the idea of importing a Gewehr 88 that takes the en-bloc clip along with a Kar88 or Gew91 as these three variants seem to be quite scarce in Canada.
Someone correct me if I am wrong ?

Saw one many years ago. Friend in Van had one that he got from Lever with a cracked stock. Got it cheap. He fixed the stock so well you couldn't tell if it had ever been cracked, so we took it out shooting. IF I recall rightly, it was a Spandau 1891. Shot real nice for a Shorty, did okay with .32-165-grain cast slugs for a Ballard.

I have an all matching Kar88 that I have been thinking of selling for years now but have never been able to let it go. It's from the Erfurt armoury 1893, serial number 389X and the muzzle is marked B.2.Ch.4.51. The rifle is in amazing condition considering the age. I just need to get some good pics of it and figure out how to post them. Any insight on the regimental markings would be much appreciated.

your Kar-88 unit mark of B.2.CH.4.51 is a Bavarian Chevaulegers regiment, basically light calvary, unit designation is Bayerisches Chevaulegers Regiment 2, Eskadron 4 waffe Nr51 --51st weapon in the group which would be all small arms, not just the rifle.
I also have an original Kar-88 in my collection unit marked to a Bavarian Ulanen Regiment B .2.U.3.33--with original sling. Erfurt 1893 with a lined out unit mark from B.2.S.R.5.112, the unit marks are on the barrel bands with the lined out one bieng an original band as it displays the last two digits of the serial number same as the rifle--this is the way you tell the rifle was reissued to a new unit and redeployed from the old Bavarian Sanitats Reserve Regiment.
Should you decide to part with yours someday I would like to add it to my collection of old German unit marked Rifles.
