anyone shoot the 32/20 cartrige

Fun little cartridge in a Marlin lever gun or something like that but not much of a hunting round. I wouldn't go buying a fancy low wall in that chambering myself thou.

Think 22lr preformance. Probably good for rabbits and maybe coyotes out to 100yards but I wouldn't push it a whole lot more. Shot placement will be critical.

Cheap as dirt to shoot if you reload thou. Too bad that a guy can't get a matching levergun - pistol set in this country.

very much like a 25-20 cart...fun to shoot but really a small critter gun...coyotes may be hunted but very short distances...100 yards at most and hit in the right place. I use my 3- 25-20s for gophers and rabbits.

I've got a Savage 23B bolt action in 25-20 and a Savage 219 in 25-20, gonna get rid of the repeater I think, the shells are to much and I just use it for plinking and porcupines that are skirting the trees on my lot so all I really need is the single shot.

I think 22 LR's have more oomph than the 25-20's.

Have loaded for a couple 25-20's and found that with a bolt gun you could load em up pretty good but the spitzer bullets didn't fit in the mag at all. :) But I would agree that a 22 hornet probably has more takedown ability.

The levergun just didn't have enough rifling left in it to be worth the trouble. (anyone know a good place to get a .25 sleeve installed?)

Up to 100 yds. the .32/20 is perfect for small game, 100gr. bullet at 2100fps, is a good handload and much more smack then the hornet or .22. Early loads for Colt's model P and older guns held velocity down to 1200. Great cartridge, very inexpensive to load, great with cast bullets. I'd like to get a late model Marlin in 32/20. Like alot of oldtimers, one has to know exact bullet diameter(slug bore) and size cast bullets to .001" above bore size for best accuracy, bores can run from .308" to .314".
