Hi I was wondering what these rifle were like. I am thinking of a 4x4 in .30-06, for the price it is hard to pass up. What is a good ammo to shoot in these guns. What kind of groups can these do (with factory ammo). Thanks AM

No experience with the 4x4 but I picked up a 100 ATR in 30-06 this August and have been very surprised by it's accuracy. The first 5 shots all touched so grouping was excellent right out of the box. I expected it to kick real hard being so light but it is no where near as bad as my featherlight in 30-06.

Mine seems to perform best with 150 grn factory loads, haven't tried anything else yet.

Seems like they have tough competion from Savage which has a big following and know for its accuracy and value. Kinda hard to convince yourself to buy a relatively new rifle when you can get stuff for close to the same money that has a proven track record.
I wish more guys had some feedback on them cause as NAA stated they are a good deal.

Cheers!!

I purchased an ATR 100 in 270 last winter and I've shot about 400 rounds out it so far. I have both a Stevens 200 and the ATR. I find the ATR more accurate. It has a nicer stock with an effective recoil pad already installed, something you may need to install after on a Stevens 200. The ATR barrel is a thicker and has a recessed crown which may account for the better accuracy. I've been so happy with mine that I would purchase another in 30-06 if I didn't already own this caliber in another make.

As for the 4x4 I have little experience. I've held one and I didn't care for the detachable mag. It felt cheap. The trigger is the same and can be creepy, I've had mine adjusted by a smith. The pros: 24" barrel in standard calibers, ATR is 22", and the same good action as the ATR. Also, although I the design of the stock is unconventional, some might say ugly, the laminate version feels pretty solid.

Good luck with your choice.

Went and looked at one at SIR,one of the salesmen there compared it to a disposable Bic lighter. The Stevens wasn't as pretty but it felt more solid and has a good rep. Ended up buying one in .300WM.
