anyone still have the Civilian SKS for sale?

You talking about the Norinco commercial version? They haven't done a run of those since the 90's. Every thing on store shelves for a good number of years is ex-military. The Russians are mostly refurbished and the Chinese are mostly new old stock (never issued). Tons of the Russian ones still around for now, I bought a Russian one at Canadian Tire this weekend. Marstar ran out of the Chinese which means the rest ought to dry up very shortly.

My Chinese i bought last august was billed as a Norinco, but I don't think it is. Features tell me its a 70s Military. All the better.

Norinco stands for China North Industries Corporation. These are the ones who export them. The Chinese Type 56 SKS were made by the Chinese government for their military and State Police forces. The Chinese when they wanted to sell the surplus to the west uses Norinco as the export agency. Thus they are called Norinco but Norinco didn't make the originals. Some of the originals were modified for the Western market, first to the United states and then when that market closed some came to Canada, thus the "Commercial" Chinese SKSs that were made in the 90s. The ones available now are the original Chinese Military Type 56 that are basically unissued and are in excellent shape, but Norinco is just the export entity, they didn't make them.
