Anyone still out chasing birds?

Went out to the property we are somewhat interested in and did a walk.
Spooked up a few there.............whoooooooooooooot...................................:runaway:
Did a few k drive around the nayboorhewd and seen kupple mawr.

:shotgun:

been deer hunting for many days now, only saw one live grouse since day one, and it's in the freezer. We don't even take the shot gun anymore, there are no more grouse around.

3 grouse outings so far, not a single shot fired. Toying with the idea of a weekender WAY up north for ruffies, but running out of time. I did buy some crow decoys for some local work though. That's going OK. :)

Grouse are still around where I am. Going out til season closes! Saw 8 on saturday (only got one) ,another 5 sunday ( buddy got 2.)

I was out a couple weeks ago for grouse. Only put up one and made the best shot of my life to put it in the freezer. I was smiling all day, it got to the point that I didn't want to see another one all day because I probably would have ruined my one bird, one shot, one kill ratio that I had going on. I'm probably done for the year, if I can get out again it will be for Bambi.

Had my last duck hunt just before everything froze up and they all disappeared. Did my last grouse hunt shortly afterward.. we had about 10 inches of snow on the ground. Got 2 that day. Grouse hunting seems to go down the tubes once the snow gets deep. But being a die-hard, I just drove about 8 hours to hunt (wild) chukars... I got one, but missed on 4 other chances. wily little so & so's. It was fun, but they made me look (and shoot) like a rank amateur

Had a couple of good feeds of fried ruffed grouse.
That's good enough for me.
A few around but not a bumper crop this year in my area.
I hunt then with the Marlin 336C in 35 Rem with hand loads made with Alliant (Herc) "red dot" pistol powder and 158 grain lead 38 cal pistol bullets.
Have hunted them that way for years.
Hunted them with Cooey 22LR for years when I was a kid.
I get really good with my deer rifle and suffer no broken molars or poisoning from ingesting lead shot.
