hey im from a non hunting family and am planning my first deer hunt this fall. no i am not going to as the dime a dozen question of how to get started but i am going to ask has anyone who hunts deer that has come from a non hunting family gone on thier first deer hunt, without an expierenced hunter, and been successful? thanks

There's plenty of excellent ''how to do''video's on deer hunting and field dressing. If you can't get a hunting partner-thats next best thing.

I am almost in the same boat as you except I am gonna use a gun.

I am just finding some land and going to have to learn the hard way. I have watched and read alot of info but I need hands on teaching that nobody I really know can help me with.

I am trying to buy a property so I don't have to worry about "Is it ok to shoot here"

I dunno, it will be probably frustrating the first time but it will get easier. Just keep at it and try to find a few friends who can help u out

yeah i am in the same boat but i cant even think about buying land as school is too expensive right now lol yeah i have people to go with for rabbit and waterfoul but if i can find some land b4 the day and get the rest of my kit b4 then i will go i know a couple places that are great and im pretty good friends with the residents and they are only a 30 minuit drive from my house so with any luck i can set up a stand there

I know a few here who have. might be different in your neck of the woods.

The thing is - it's a lot harder. One of the main reasons it's harder is newbies have a tough time spotting deer in the woods, believe it or not. Get as many deer pics as you can in different settings and study them regular - it takes time to train the eye to see the difference between 'branch' and 'antler', or 'small bird fluttering wings' and 'ear flick'.

Oh - and do yourself a favour: Ask the dime a dozen questions to your hearts' content :)

Skunked on my first year but it was still successful as my boys and me had a lot of fun and learned enough to get 2 the next year.

Hey, lets remember, even experienced hunters get skunked once in a while :)

Sometimes the deer do something right too :D

My first hunt ever was alone . Moose hunting. Scared? No!
Got skunked the first year. Not enough time to get used to the surroundings, to find a "good spot".
The trip was for a week and the whole hunt took about 3 days, beacause of the aforementioned reasons.
Secend year, I got lucky and I don't plan on going back to unlucky :dancingbanana:

Where are you hunting? Near Leamington?
