Has anyone taken a shot out 6PPC once the accuracy has opened up and reamed it out to 6X45?
I want to build a accurate rifle in this caliber and I thought of using a 700 V? in 6mm but I think the twist is wrong or at least I would have to used heavier bullets. The right twist would be 6PPC and with the longer case have some better rifling possibly?. Thank you for your comments. David

If by 6x45 you mean 6mm/.223, you would have to remove the chamber end of the barrel; the PPC is larger in diameter than the 6x45. This would guarantee that all traces of the original chamber and throat would be removed. Most benchrest barrels are rather short to begin with, so trimming a couple of inches from the breech might not leave too much barrel. Usually PPC barrels are 1:14 or so. You may be limited to the same weight of bullet used in the PPC: 68-70gr tops.
I've redone retired PPC benchrest barrels to .243 and 6mmRem., and they shot very well with the lighter bullets, 85gr. hollowpoints being the heaviest I tried.

Or do you mean 6x45 Swiss Match? Which is sort of a shortened .243
Thank you for the responses, the 6X45 is actually the 223 rem. necked up to 6mm (plentifull cheap brass). I would think the same bullet weights would be used or if this becomes too complicated a project I should just stay with a 243 win./6mm rem. in a varmint barrel rather than the expense of a full match 6PPC rifle. I am looking strickly at accuracy not velocity for paper punching purposes.

I have a 6x47, the .222RemMag necked up to 6mm, in a older Light Varmint Bench Rest rifle. There is nothing wrong with the cartridge, and I'm sure that the 6x45 would be just fine, and based on a very common case to boot. 6x45s have been done up in ARs.
