Anyone tried a Norinco "High Power"

My understanding is that it is a clone of the FEG clone of the hi-power, it was also a fairly early import and had some quality issues. I notice on their website that they have another pistol which is a direct clone of the BHP which looks quite nice.

The NP-18 appears to be an FEG clone - a mix of Hi-Power and S&W. I'd rather have a straight Hi-Power copy myself.

don't do it! the "High power" clone has nothing but the name going for it. get their 1911 (your choice) or I recommend the NZ85 (and I'm not alone in that either...) they have proven themselves solid platforms. I don't dislike norinco, I own a few, but this is not one of their better copies if you ask me...

I've got the 1911 Norc's in both .45 and 9mm. Stick with them. You will never go wrong. If you truly want a High Power, try finding an FN roll-marked BHP, they are not the fancy polished Browning versions, but made by FN for the mil and LEO end users. You can save a couple hundred bucks that way, and you still get a real HP. No surprises there !!

I think they are quite capable of making a Hi-Power as good as their 1911-CZ clones and their quality keeps improving, could be a very nice pistol, maybe I will send them an e-mail, can't hurt.

Is it such a bad gun, let say for a beginner? Taking the price into consideration 279$ at Marstar and the availability of the other 9mm there right now?

You asked...it is a piece of junk. As Colin has pointed out Norinoc does make a copy of the Hi-Power - yes it is a copy and would only be restricted. If you are looking for an inexpensive 9MM gun to start out with get the Norinco clone of the CZ. I think Colin has one and they are great guns. The gun will certainly last a lifetime.

NZ-75 and NZ-85B (norinco CZ copies)

Are these guns upgradable and are aftermarket parts compatible with them? As I may and will develop taste of my own in the future?

What is the difference between the two models as the Marstar website doesn't provide much info for someone who doesn't know much.

Also, is it wiser to upgrade the norinco CZ copies or get the Bul Storm for the extra money?
Thank you for you opnion!

It sounds like funds are kinda tight, but theres more to it then simply buying the "cheapest" gun. you want to get value for your money! yes the price is $279 at Marstar. but if you stretch yourself a few bucks further, you will be getting a gun that you will be happy with and that won't fall apart on you! nothings worse then getting a new gun home only to be dissapointed:(
Now, if you want a solidly built gun, buy the tokarev that they are selling(even cheaper! at $179 or $199). I have two (one in 9mm one in 7.62). solid steel, combined with sturdy russian design, you can't go wrong. and I promise, you will be much happier with it, then a "high-power" knock-off. I vote for the tok, 1000 rnds can't be wrong!

Yes I do have the NZ-85b and think it is a great gun, I just wish they made the slide serrations deeper.

We did measure the the slide at reliable and the NZ is a couple of millimetres taller than the CZ and the dovetail for the sights is slightly smaller (or bigger) than the dovetail on the CZ. Mags and grips all fit, so will extractors and springs.

Even though I bought my 226ST, I am keeping the NZ-85b, might upgrade the sights though.

I believe you all it is a piece of junk. But could someone please expand on why that is as I have never fired a handgun. Thanks!:(

+1. Fit & finish are better, looks are more of the modern CZ except the grip which is similar to Tanfoglio pistols.
